Project A – Journal Entry 2.2
After lot of drawing on whiteboard, I figured my level should have some high level pattern.
I wanted to make some level that would be easy at first, but after every iteration it will get harder and harder.
I designed what interesting features could level have, but decided, that level might get repetitive that way.
By changing the idea slightly, I came up with level, where you would soft-lock yourself at one point and you had to return to beginning to find modified route.
Level is of cyclic character, each iteration making a bigger circle. End is located right at the start but locked behind button at the end of the biggest circle.
Mechanics are progressively harder, with updates on the way back, that divide level to two logical parts:
- Experiencing new content
- Replaying old content, but on harder difficulty
Here is a level design made in Aseprite, with comments around it representing mechanics or triggers.
